A sleep disorder refers to a medical condition that disrupts the normal sleep pattern, resulting in difficulties with falling asleep, staying asleep, or obtaining restorative sleep. These disorders can arise from a variety of factors, such as underlying health issues, lifestyle choices, or environmental factors. Common sleep disorders include insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, circadian rhythm disorders, and parasomnias. Sleep disorders can have significant consequences for physical and mental health, leading to daytime fatigue, impaired cognitive function, mood disturbances, and diminished overall well-being. It is crucial to seek proper diagnosis and treatment from healthcare professionals specializing in sleep medicine to address these disorders effectively and improve sleep quality.
What is BensFriends.org?
In 2007, Ben Muñoz suffered a rare form of stroke caused by an AVM. He was unable to find the support he needed during the most difficult time, so he created an online support community AVMSurvivors.org to connect with others like him. AVMSurvivors.org led to the founding of BensFriends.org, driven to provide patient-to-patient support communities for people living with rare diseases.
